ABOUT SPIRITT MORAITIS
The dictionary defines Spirit as “a natural phenomenon”. Like her name suggests, Spiritt is an animating force that influences and inspires. This individual embodies an abundance of creativity and has the ability to transform the ordinary into a breathtaking view.
Spiritt Moraitis is a Visual Merchandiser and Stylist with a background in Design and Product Development. She completed her Bachelor of Fashion at the renowned Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology R.M.I.T, in her hometown of Melbourne, Australia.
In the fashion arena, her creative pursuits have led her to being invited to showcase her work at one of Australia’s largest fashion weeks, L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival. Along with designing eveningwear for a globally sold brand. She has worked in fast fashion, and her ability to instinctively read global trends was what set her apart to produce best selling styles. It was her work in this position that saw her receive a job offer to do Product Development in China.
Most recently she was invited to design an outfit for the prestigious invitation only Melbourne Cup Design Award. Her design came in the top 20 Nationally and with industry professionals judging the event renowned Australian designer “Toni Matichevski” saying that he had personally voted for her design. She also designed “The World’s First” meat bikini which she designed as an art piece in High School, this was years before Lady Gaga’s debut. The outfit gained positive press in Australia and was actually inspired by the 90’s model “waif debate”, the too skinny angle, along with the take of women being treated as pieces of meat.
When it comes to her Visual Merchandising work, she has been able to achieve notable growth that is seen almost immediately. Her work is not only creative and visually appealing, but has a positive impact on sales and she is very strategic in approach. She has been able to turn a store around, by increasing sales of $10,000 in just one week, with her strategic visual merchandising, retail management and customer service know how.
Her clear and easy to read Visual Merchandising has only added to her success, with customers and employers alike. She has been a Visual Merchandising manager for the State of Victoria, in this time she put together a sales training and VM directive that is now used on a National level. As a result of her VM directive she was able to increase sales growth by close to 70% whilst surpassing other regions by almost 40%.
Having been in retail for many years, her strengths in really listening to what the customer needs was one of the things that set her apart and within her first year at one company was crowned best multi sales for her entire state for the year.
Aside from her work in the creative industries Spiritt also enjoys giving back to the community and helping out with charity organizations. In the past she has held her own clothing drives to donate to those less fortunate, along with being part of “WDC” We Don’t Care Inc which is a young not for profit that holds events to help different charities in Melbourne.
